The Sustainability Program Manager at DIRTT plays a key role in advancing our commitment to environmental sustainability across all aspects of our operations. This position is ideal for a passionate and detail-oriented individual who is dedicated to driving positive environmental change within the construction industry. The Sustainability Program Manager will collaborate with various teams to implement and monitor sustainability initiatives, be the in-house subject-matter-expert, track performance metrics, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.What You'll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement sustainability initiatives, including Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) and the development of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD).
- Drive the development and execution of strategies on the manufacturing floor to reduce environmental impact in the design, manufacturing, and construction processes.
- Work in collaboration with other functions at DIRTT to track and meet key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainability initiatives set by the company.
- Regularly monitor, analyze, and report on the company's sustainability performance to internal and external stakeholders through various channels, including the annual ESG reporting.
- Stay informed about relevant environmental regulations and standards.
- Ensure that DIRTT remains in compliance with all applicable sustainability laws and certifications, including Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain-of-Custody certification, EPDs, and Indoor Air Quality Advantage Gold certifications.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees and Partners about sustainability practices.
- Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to develop Sustainability-focused marketing messaging and tools.
- Foster a culture of sustainability within the organization by engaging employees in green initiatives.
- Manage and respond to requests from the commercial teams for project requests for green building certification submittal packages, data sheets, RFP responses or other general requests.
- Work closely with the procurement team to drive initiatives to source environmentally responsible materials and products.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to assess and improve the sustainability of the supply-chain.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in sustainability practices, in the context of market trends and global sustainability progress.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in implementing sustainability initiatives within a corporate setting.
- Practical experience with LCA and EPDs in manufacturing or construction industry would be considered an asset.
- LEED AP accreditation would be considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards in manufacturing or construction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and demonstrate competency in a wide range of sustainability topics.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments, influence positive change and balance priorities to manage several ongoing initiatives.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with externally facing sustainability communications preferred.
