Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Communications Advisor who will develop and implement communication strategies and plans for internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the Communications Advisor will be part of a team dedicated to high-quality and innovative communications practices. We're looking for a strategic thinker, a great writer, and a tech-savvy communicator to join our team and promote AltaLink's reputation with all of our stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily development and production of miscellaneous communications materials including presentations, speeches, reference tools, fact sheets, correspondence, website content, social media content, key messaging and boilerplates.
  • Develop and manage content for www.altalink.ca and AltaLink's social media accounts.
  • Develop and manage content for TeamLink – AltaLink's corporate intranet.
  • Ensure AltaLink's online presence aligns with AltaLink's messaging, strategy and culture.
  • Support the team in monitoring media and social media for industry news and AltaLink mentions.
  • Act as lead writer for various reports, newsletters and other corporate communications.
  • Work with project teams including project managers, engineers and planners to create communications plans for new transmission projects.
  • Develop project information packages for AltaLink's transmission and construction projects.
  • Ensure AltaLink's transmission projects are communicated through all appropriate channels.
  • Provide strategic advice to internal clients on audience needs, message development, effective communication tools, timing and methods to evaluate internal communication programs to help them meet their business goals.
  • Consult with AltaLink management and employees to provide integrated communications support for specific business issues.
  • Provide research, writing and editing services for a variety of communications.
  • Support the execution of AltaLink's corporate events and community investment activities.
  • Support the team in measuring and reporting on the effectiveness of AltaLink's communication platforms.
  • Provide support to Manager, Corporate Communications and VP, External Engagement.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in communications or public relations required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a communications role.
  • Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
  • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal), including solid creative writing and editing skills when dealing with sometimes highly technical topics.
  • Strong knowledge of communication processes.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management of communications initiatives.
  • Ability to translate technical information into easily understood language.
  • Extremely detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated experience working with content management systems, SharePoint and other technologies.
  • Experience with analytics and measurement would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and carry projects through to completion within a changing environment, both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Work effectively in team setting – value the ideas of others.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive outcomes.
  • Sound judgment in dealing with sensitive, and/or highly confidential information.
  • Proven track record of good attendance and job performance.
