About the role:
At DMCL, we're offering an opportunity for a Senior Accountant to take on a pivotal role in our growing Surrey/White Rock office. If you're looking for autonomy, leadership, and a collaborative environment, this role is made for you.
You'll have the responsibility to lead new audits and review engagements, while mentoring and shaping the future talent of our firm. At DMCL, we believe in empowering our people. We're committed to fostering your professional growth and providing the space for you to demonstrate leadership and ownership—with a clear path for progression into your vision for your future.
If you're driven, passionate, and ready to thrive in a supportive, growing environment, we want to hear from you.
How you'll make a difference:
- Lead and manage a variety of financial tasks for private clients, including bookkeeping, compiling, reviewing, and auditing financial statements.
- Handle personal T1 and corporate T2 tax returns, T4 and T5 slips, and T3 returns with precision and expertise.
- Review and interpret Notices of Assessment (NOAs) and Notices of Reassessment (NORAs), providing clients with clear advice and support.
- Oversee government filings, remittances, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, and payroll to ensure seamless financial operations for clients.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, troubleshoot discrepancies, and work closely with managers or engagement partners to find solutions.
- Communicate confidently with government agencies, managing information requests, assessments, and payments efficiently.
- Collaborate with your client engagement team, leveraging collective skills to meet and exceed client expectations.
- Lead and mentor a team of students, guiding them through their development and fostering a culture of growth.
Who you are:
- You are a dedicated professional with two years of invaluable experience in public accounting. Currently on the path towards obtaining your CPA designation or in its final stages.
- Proficient in essential accounting software such as CaseWare and TaxPrep, you possess the technical acumen necessary for the role.
- Your hands-on experience in managing Canada Revenue Agency's tax enquiries and reviews showcases your ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
- Moreover, your proactive approach is reflected in your gradual assumption of responsibilities, from delegating and managing tasks to reviewing, planning, scheduling, budgeting, and ultimately preparing client work.
What DMCL offers:
- A competitive salary and full benefits package.
- A standard 35-hour work week (core hours between 9am - 3pm)
- Paid overtime or time off in lieu of overtime for all levels.
- Flexible time to use throughout the year (equivalent to 12 additional days off on top of vacation);
