About the role

We are looking for a Payroll and Accounting Specialist to join our accounting and finance team at RVezy. This is a ~1 year fixed-term contract while one of our employees goes on maternity leave for the whole of 2025.

Responsibilies:

Payroll

  • Process bi-monthly payroll through ADP following strict payroll deadlines for both salaried and hourly employees
  • Other related activities (journal entries, accruals, vacation tracking, remittances, year-end activities including issuing T4's, EHT returns, etc.)
  • Review timesheets, attendance records, and other relevant data to verify hours worked, overtime, and leave balances in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of Records of Employment for employees and Service Canada.
  • Organize and track employee expense reimbursements
  • Act as point of contact for employee inquiries regarding systems issues, T documents, benefits, vacation balances, and more
  • Respond to requests for pay and tax information including legal and government agency demands

Accounting

  • Prepare daily bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Accurately post and process vendor invoices in a timely manner (coding, verifying, including in appropriate payment run)
  • Make payments to vendors via ACH, wire and cheque
  • Assist with month-end close processes, including preparation and posting of journal entries and preparing reconciliations
  • Communicate with vendors regarding invoices as needed
  • Process government and other remittances (HST, EHT, etc.)
  • Assist HR department with benefits administration matters
  • Assist with audits, funding, and other ad-hoc projects

Competencies, skills, and attributes:

  • Minimum two years of payroll experience and ADP system experience is essential
  • Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, specifically Ontario
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good Excel skills
  • Excellent team work and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with Quickbooks Online
  • National Payroll Institute PCP certification or in progress
  • Account Payable (AP) experience

Location

The role will require you to work from our office in Centretown 2-3 days per week.
