We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Human Resources Assistant to join our team!

Job Scope

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Human Resources Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper data integrity, administration, and functionality of our Human Resources and Payroll department. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining an efficient payroll process while providing administrative support to the HR department. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of payroll regulations, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Always maintain a Safety Mindset and contribute to a Positive Workplace Culture.
  • Assist and collaborate with the Development Manager to implement Human Resources initiatives and projects.
  • Develop and maintain payroll procedures to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Collect and verify employee timekeeping data, including hours worked, leave, and overtime.
  • Calculate and process payroll deductions, including taxes and benefits.
  • Prepare and distribute paychecks and payroll reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial (where applicable) payroll regulations.
  • Assist in recruitment processes, including job postings, resume screening, and scheduling interviews.
  • Perform data entry and maintain employee records and ensure data integrity in HRIS and filing systems.
  • Support onboarding processes for new hires.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits and maintain up-to-date benefits information.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Develop and generate regular payroll and HR reports for management review.
  • Analyze payroll data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in audits related to payroll and Human Resources.
  • Stay current on payroll best practices and changes in employment legislation.
  • Participate in training and development activities as required.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Diploma or Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP)
  • Minimum of a Human Resources Management Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, mainly Excel.
  • Experience with payroll software, BambooHR considered an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Must have reliable transportation to work.
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and punctual
