Meaty Eats is a specialty retailer focusing on Fresh Organic Meats and Charcuterie as well as in house Prepared Foods. We operate two locations in the GTA focusing on quality goods, curated product selection and customer experience.
In support of the bakery operations Bakers play a critical part in delivering our food service and culinary programs through the preparation of various baked breads and savory items including various live cultured and yeasted breads.
A background in food service or hospitality with 2-3 years experience working in a commercial / production kitchen or similar environment, a sincere respect for food, and commitment to the highest food safety and quality standards will prove pivotal in the fulfillment of their duties.
Main Duties
- Plan, implement and manage daily operations
- Prepare daily offerings & suggest new offerings
- Prepare a wide variety of top tier goods such as sourdoughs, yeasted loafs, focaccias, ciabattas, and baguettes.
- Monitor supplies and ingredients necessary for daily operations
- Check quality of material and condition of equipment
- Train, guide and motivate assistants
- Maintain a clean station
- Adhere to health and safety standards
- Keep abreast with the latest food and industry trends
- Help train retail store associates on product including talking points to assist in delivering a world-class shopping experience
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- Previous working experience as Pastry Chef / Baker for 4+ years
- Certificate in culinary arts or similar relevant field
- In depth knowledge of sanitation principles
- Complete knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
- Physically capable of being on foot for an entire shift and have the capacity to lift 50lbs
