Job Summary:
A Quality Auditor plays a critical role in ensuring that products meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. Their primary responsibility is to conduct audits and inspections throughout the manufacturing process to identify defects, deviations from quality standards, and areas for improvement. Their efforts help ensure that automotive parts meet customer expectations for safety, reliability, and performance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Quality Inspections: Perform inspections of raw materials, components, and finished automotive parts to verify compliance with quality specifications, engineering drawings, and customer requirements. This involves visually inspecting parts for defects, measuring dimensions, and conducting functional tests as necessary.
- Process Audits: Conduct audits of manufacturing processes and procedures to ensure that they are being performed according to established quality standards and best practices. This may involve reviewing documentation, observing production activities, and interviewing personnel to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Documentation Review: Review quality control documentation, including inspection reports, test records, and non-conformance reports, to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Also, maintain quality records and documentation for traceability purposes.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate the root causes to determine why issues occurred and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence. This may involve conducting root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, and verifying the effectiveness of corrective measures.
- Supplier Audits: Conduct audits of suppliers and vendors to evaluate their quality management systems, production processes, and product quality. Supplier audits help ensure that purchased components and materials meet quality standards and specifications before they are used in the manufacturing process.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with industry regulations, standards, and customer requirements is a critical aspect of the role. Stay up-to-date with relevant quality standards, such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949, as well as automotive industry regulations and customer-specific requirements.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: Post-secondary education, in quality assurance, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, or a related discipline.
- Work Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in quality assurance, quality control, or related roles within manufacturing environments. Experience specifically in automotive parts manufacturing or a closely related industry.
- Exposure to auditing, inspection, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
- Familiarity with automotive industry standards, such as Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) standards.
- Attention to Detail: Quality Auditors must have keen attention to detail to identify defects, deviations, and non-conformances during inspections and audits.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities are necessary for analyzing data, conducting root cause analysis, and identifying trends or patterns related to quality issues.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for documenting audit findings, communicating with stakeholders, and providing feedback to production personnel.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Quality Auditors should be proficient in problem-solving techniques and methodologies to investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with measurement tools and equipment used for quality inspections, as well as knowledge of quality management systems and statistical analysis techniques.
- Attention to Standards and Regulations: Knowledge of quality management standards, industry regulations, and customer-specific requirements applicable to automotive parts manufacturing is necessary.
