Job Summary: Reporting to the Print Supervisor, the HP 6900 Roll Label Press Operator is responsible for producing specialized digital print projects in compliance with job specifications, company quality standards, and procedures. The HP 6900 Roll Label Press Operator manages workload schedules to meet customer deadlines while achieving high productivity. The role involves daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on the HP 6900 to ensure optimal output and collaborating with other staff to exceed customer satisfaction expectations.

Salary Range: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the HP 6900 press according to equipment operating procedures and job specifications.
  • Load the correct work order and set up the machine configuration as per job requirements.
  • Input digital files and ensure accurate output for project completion.
  • Inspect finished jobs for quality and adjust press settings as necessary.
  • Package completed jobs, update work orders, and ensure delivery receipts are completed.
  • Record job activity for tracking purposes.
  • Troubleshoot press issues, perform minor repairs, and carry out routine maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety around the machine.
  • Report any issues to the Print Supervisor for resolution.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work area following maintenance procedures and update maintenance logs.
  • Understand and perform all troubleshooting procedures on the digital press.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of supplies. Order and stock supplies as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Inform supervisor of equipment problems.
  • Place service calls and coordinate with the vendor for the repair of equipment as needed.
  • Perform repairs and replace machine consumables as needed.
  • Assist in other digital press operations as required.

Key Experience & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED with experience or vocational/technical certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a print facility.
  • Previous print and/or machine knowledge/experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience in operating machinery is an asset.
  • Good understanding of digital press (i.e. Indigo/HP 6900, 12000, 100k) functions.
  • Familiarity with handling digital files.
  • Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills e.g. working well with others, communication, positive attitude.
  • Good written, verbal and mathematical skills.
  • Good attention to detail and hand eye coordination.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of the team.
  • Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality and attention to workstation.
  • Meet or exceed minimum test results as specified by the hiring manager.

Working Conditions:

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.
  • Frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and twisting is required.
  • Work area may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
  • Exposure to ink and chemical fumes, and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder.
  • Appearance at all times must represent the company image.
  • Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Additional hours may be required due to operational requirements.
