POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Retail Store Sales Representative at ROM, you'll be a valuable part of our team, ensuring the smooth operation of our store daily. Your primary responsibilities will include helping members, visitors, and shoppers choose the right products and handling their payments accurately. You'll also play an essential role in maintaining attractive merchandise displays that align with ROM Retail guidelines while ensuring items are safely packaged for customers. In addition, you'll warmly greet customers and assist with managing the Cash Desk lines when needed. Providing information about the ROM galleries and merchandise and offering directions within the museum will also be part of your role. It's essential to stay updated on current exhibitions and ROM retail products, actively promoting them to our visitors. Above all, you'll create a welcoming atmosphere in the store, authentically representing the ROM's brand through exceptional retail sales and service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Efficiently and professionally handled customer purchases, ensuring excellent customer service throughout the transaction process. This includes processing various products and payment methods with care and accuracy. Provide visitors and shoppers with detailed information about our retail products and museum galleries, emphasizing ROM's unique brand and captivating stories.
  • Address customer concerns or complaints and escalate unresolved issues to the Assistant Manager for prompt resolution.
  • Welcome visitors and shoppers with a friendly attitude, especially during busy periods.
  • Ensure that cash desk lines are well-managed, guiding visitors accurately and maintaining an organized and smooth flow.
  • Actively promote a seamless shopping experience, highlighting the benefits of our products and membership opportunities to enhance visitor engagement and satisfaction.
  • Maintain visually appealing and well-organized store displays.
  • Regularly clean and tidy store fixtures and promptly report any product shortages or issues to the Manager for a quick resolution.
  • Participate actively in sales, customer experience, general retail training sessions and team meetings as required.
  • Support onboarding by providing guidance and support to new Coat Check + Crowd Management Representatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification in retail, hospitality, tourism, or customer service would be valuable.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail, hospitality, tourism, customer service, or sales role.
  • Exceptional customer service skills are essential, and the ability to uphold the ROM's customer service standards.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in a second language, especially French, would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively inform visitors and shoppers and represent the ROM's brand through retail sales.
  • Comfortable working in crowded environments and skilled at handling public inquiries and complaints tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts during the day and evening. The position requires availability for flexible hours, including evenings, holidays, and extended shifts during busy periods.
