Overview

This is a full-time, permanent role where you will report directly to the CTO and play a pivotal part in our technical leadership team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

1. Cloud and DevOps Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage a small but growing team of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) responsible for supporting and evolving StoreForce/ThinkTime SaaS solution infrastructures across major cloud providers (Azure, GCP, AWS).
  • Mentor and contribute technically to cloud design and scaling practices.
  • Collaborate in refining cloud architectures, promoting automation and continuous advancement.

2. Kubernetes Expertise and Leadership

  • Manage and lead our migration from Virtual Machines to Kubernetes. ThinkTime's Dev environment has been running on Kubernetes for 2 years now and we need to replicate this out to all production environments (10) and then do the same for StoreForce.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters hands-on for optimal performance.
  • Strategize Kubernetes deployments focusing on scalability and security.
  • Fuse Kubernetes with CI/CD for enhanced automation.
  • Oversee Kubernetes monitoring, address issues promptly.
  • Share Kubernetes insights, guiding the team with best practices.

3. Direct Cloud Environment Support and Evolution

  • Lead and support our SaaS infrastructure, focusing on Kubernetes migrations and efficiency.
  • Craft and execute CI/CD and automation scripts hands-on.
  • Drive improvements through metrics and automation.
  • Maintain and innovate monitoring/alerting systems.

4. Implementation Support and Technical Collaboration

  • Provide technical guidance during StoreForce and ThinkTime service implementations.
  • Engage with cloud providers, clients, and teams for network and security setups.
  • Support client IT departments post-implementation.

5. Proactive Issues Resolution and Incident Management

  • Resolve critical cloud issues, ensuring adherence to SLAs.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis for escalated incidents.
  • Address high-availability, performance, and security incidents.
  • Coordinate for timely issue resolution and continuous system assessment.

6. Additional Hands-On Responsibilities

  • Spearhead cloud and infrastructure projects, with active involvement in Linux, Microsoft and CI/CD tools such as Microsoft DevOps, Jenkins and Ansible.

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Hands-on with many of the technologies you've worked with.
  • 5+ years work experience providing application, network, and infrastructure support in a Cloud environment (Azure/GCP preferred)
  • Proven experience leading Kubernetes adoption and leveraging its capabilities.
  • Experience with core Cloud services such as VMs, Load Balancers, Functions, Scale sets, Azure Application Insights/NewRelic/Other telemetry platforms, API Management, Blob storage, Service Bus etc.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud infrastructure design principles, security best practices, and CI/CD methodologies.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience maintaining continuous integration and IAC environments, including multi-region failover, zero-downtime deployments etc
  • Experience in a retail environment (applications, POS or network) an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud-native principles, best practices, and tooling
  • Experience with automating infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, and testing processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both internally and with clients.
  • Ability to independently solve complex problems and work effectively under pressure.
  • Passion for learning and staying current with the latest cloud technologies.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Experience with disaster recovery (DR) planning and implementation in the cloud.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
