POSITION SUMMARY:
The Product Developer/Merchandiser will be responsible for coordinating development samples for the Design Department to better showcase the design teams' work. Qualified applicants must have knowledge of garment construction, techniques, art trends and the company's licenses. The Product Developer/Merchandiser must have strong written and verbal communication, skills, excel in a fast-paced environment and is detailed oriented with ability to follow through by resolving operational issues.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Director of Product Development and Production, Sourcing and Sales teams to create detailed technical specification packages for overseas suppliers for both costing and production purposes.
  • Manage development process following the predetermined product development calendar assigned styles with an emphasis on quality and timely completion of all tasks.
  • Review and approve factory submissions (i.e., lab dips, strike-offs, pp samples, etc.) in conjunction with the Design/Sales team.
  • Work with Design/Sales team to adjust styling/fabrication details to meet cost, functionality, or factory requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain seasonal list and routine status reporting (WIP).
  • Communicate directly with factories on production and shipment status.
  • Follow-up with licensing teams on approvals to ensure on time delivery of goods.
  • Prepare and send out all sourcing/counter/sales parcels, as required.
  • Overtime required during peak seasons to ensure delivery timelines are maintained.
  • Other duties to be assigned, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-3 years minimum experience
  • Strong communication, multi-tasking, time management and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Experience in printable product developments and previous production experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of garment construction and design.
  • General knowledge of apparel construction and can provide solution-based remedies when faced with stringent deadlines and unforeseeable obstacles that may hinder production.
  • Must have clear and concise verbal and written communication abilities, over the phone, email and in person.
  • Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have experience in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and MS Excel.
