Salary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Inventory and Distribution Manager to oversee the daily operations of our warehouses across various provinces. The successful candidate will ensure consistent processes, optimize inventory management, and lead a dynamic team while adhering to compliance and safety standards. Balance hands-on daily operational tasks with higher-level management duties, ensuring smooth workflow and team alignment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring uniformity in processes and practices across all locations.
  • Ensure daily/weekly team performance metrics are consistently met and identify opportunities to enhance current metrics, driving continuous improvement in operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor inventory levels, shipments, and the movement of goods to maintain efficient logistics operations.
  • Collaborate with vendors, including Virco, to manage incoming shipments and ensure timely delivery by tracking and coordinating schedules effectively. Coordinate with suppliers, freight companies, and internal departments to enhance supply chain efficiency.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and support warehouse supervisors and staff, providing guidance, training, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement team workflows to ensure timely communication and collaboration across all warehouses.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages productivity and adherence to company policies.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all warehousing operations comply with legal standards, including health and safety regulations across all locations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of warehouse facilities to identify and address potential risks or inefficiencies.
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures to safeguard both staff and company assets.

Inventory Control:

  • Oversee the accuracy of inventory management systems, minimizing discrepancies and losses.
  • Develop strategies to optimize stock levels, managing excess stock, returns, and damaged goods effectively.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline warehousing and inventory practices.

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Prepare reports on key metrics, including inventory accuracy, delivery performance, and operational costs.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify trends, opportunities for cost reduction, and areas for process improvement.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management regarding warehouse performance and logistics challenges.

Coordination with Other Departments:

  • Collaborate closely with procurement, sales, and customer service teams to ensure warehousing and distribution operations meet business needs.
  • Coordinate multi-province logistics strategies with key stakeholders and adjust plans according to changing demands.

Education, Certifications and Licenses:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management in a multi-location, large-scale operation.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

Qualities and Attributes:

  • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate favorable contracts and pricing with suppliers.
  • Procurement Knowledge: Strong understanding of purchasing principles, vendor management, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis skills to assess supplier performance and purchasing trends.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines across a broad geographic area.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy in all procurement activities, from purchase orders to contract management.
