POSITION PROFILE:

The Yard Supervisor oversees the movement of our scaffolding gear to our customers who rent the material or have us build it for their project. This position is a working supervisor who will lead a team and also performs shipping, picking, inspecting, and receiving of our gear at our yard operations.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Supervise and coordinate the daily yard operations

· Develop and train Yard Shippers & Receivers and Drivers

· Oversee daily yard operations with a safety-first attitude

· Load and unload delivery vehicles in a safe manner with frequent lifting up to 50lbs

· Pick orders with accuracy

· Count, stack, and organize scaffold gear

· Complete safety checks and inspections of gear and equipment

· Keep yard clean and organized

· Operate company vehicle to deliver gear to customer or project sites as required

· Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by adhering to safe work practices and the Northstar Scaffold Safety Philosophy

· Use and clean tools required on the worksite

· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum Highschool diploma or equivalent

· Previous work experience in an Order Picker or Material Handler role preferred

· Minimum 2+ years' experience as a supervisor leading a team

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Proven ability to lead a team, mentor and enforce safety policies

· Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures

· Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs and occasionally up to 100lbs

· Effective verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment

· Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision under tight time constraints

· Punctual and consistent with reliable means of travel to/from work

· A Team Player who works well with others and trains new members as required

· Good communication skills verbal and written

· Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills

· Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

· Scaffold knowledge or forklift license an asset

· Previous work experience as an Order Picker, Receiving/ Put-away, or Material Handler role preferred

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT:

· Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments where temperatures will range throughout the various seasons with exposure to cold and hot temperatures

· Constant use of arms and hands to reach for, handle, carry, and manipulate objects

· Consistent carrying of objects up to 50lbs and occasionally up to 100lbs

· Standing and walking occurs continuously

· Stooping, knelling, crawling, and crouching is required frequently
