ADGA is currently looking to hire a Senior Computer Technician role!
We are looking for candidates who are proficient in both hardware and software maintenance; updating, upgrading, troubleshooting, and installing as required on the MRTT.
The Mission Rehearsal and Tactics Trainer (MRTT) is a CH-146 Griffon helicopter high fidelity virtual simulator training system, permanently installed at 403 Helicopter Operational Training Squadron (HOTS), that requires a dedicated service representative to maintain all aspects of its functionality.
Tasks will include, but not limited to:
- Provide technical ongoing life cycle support and maintenance.
- Provide end-user technical IT support.
- Preventative maintenance to on-site Windows, Linux and IBM AIX servers.
- Perform preventive maintenance on MRTT simulator.
- Responsible for tool inventory, storage and use by both project team and site personnel.
- Perform daily pre-flight and post-flight checks on MRTT simulator.
- Perform visual display/screen alignment and calibration of simulator flight controls (Cyclic, Collective, and Pedals).
- Maintain MRTT desktop/rack mounted computers, Cisco switches and routers, ACU communication systems, audio and video displays, and various avionics systems.
- Support internal and external customers for modifications, updates, testing, maintenance and equipment repair.
- Provide remote diagnostic assistance using VOIP help-line, advanced software/video monitoring system utilizing a remote desktop software system via the secure DND CFXnet to support three CFB sites each operating two MRTT CH146 simulators and associated server equipment per site. (Provide diagnostics of complex issues and system troubleshooting support for total of 7 simulators systems.)
- Maintain inventory/warehousing control of MRTT components, spare parts and handle shipping and receiving of inventory and spare parts for all MRTT sites as directed by DND LCMM.
- Must work on-site full time, at CFB Gagetown.
- Must hold a valid Enhanced Reliability clearance with PSPC to start. (contract requirement and will need to be eligible for the Secret level 2, and have this pending)
- Ideal candidates will have a post-secondary diploma or better in Science or Technology.
- Experience needed in three of the following areas
- A minimum of 6 years on the job experience in the past 10 years as a Computer Technician.
- A minimum of 7 years' experience in the last 12 years' working in a Microsoft and Unix, or Linux operating system environment.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in the last 5 years working in a server support role including disaster recovery functions.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in the last 5 years working with High Level Architecture (HLA) federations.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in the past 5 years supporting VMWare.
- Software skills required: flexibility, client service skills, effective communication skills, teamwork skills, analytical person, ability to work well independently, comfortable working in a military environment, responsibility, and resourceful.
