We are looking to hire (1) full time Dietitian at Atikokan General Hospital located in Atikokan, Ontario. This position is a non-unionized position, and you will be working permanently for the hospital. The details are as follows:

Pay: $40.31/hour

Starting: As soon as possible

Hours: Monday to Friday (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 7.5 hour days with a half an hour of unpaid lunch)

Qualifications:

• Holds a university degree in Food and Nutrition
• Registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario and in good standing
• Membership with the Dietitians of Canada
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective interactions with patients and their families for teaching and liaising with the public, management and staff
• TB two step test in last three months
• Vulnerable sector search in last six months
• COVID vaccination proof x 3
• N95 mask fit test results
• Basic Cardiac Life support
• Evidence of immunity measles
• Evidence of immunity mumps
• Evidence of immunity Rebella
• Evidence of immunity Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis

Job Description:

• Provide assessment, intervention, support and education related to medical nutrition therapy to inpatients of the Atikokan General Hospital as well as residents of the long-term care units.
• Act as a Dietician consultant for their Diabetes Program
• Responsible for working with outpatients two days a week with the Family Health Team
• The dietitian will provide contract work with the Ontario Health Home and Community Care Program
• Review menus and approve them for Atikokan General Hospital
• Is knowledgeable of the Departmental requirements under the Long-Term Care Homes Act and ensures compliance with all regulations.
• Attends and participates in management and departmental meetings, educational programs, workshops and conferences.
• Participates in the administrative supervision, hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of subordinate staff
• Plans and develops educational material and teaching programs for patients and staff.
• Maintains professional competency requirements on an ongoing basis.
• Collaborate with the Lead Hand to implement cost controls and ensure efficient operation of patient and on-patient food service
• Delivers nutritional counselling services based on dietary needs and patterns, and according to doctor's orders
• Has awareness and understanding of all Hospital policies
• Is knowledgeable and familiar with the Accreditation Canada Program, supports the Program and participates as a Team member when requested.
• Is familiar with Infection Control Practices and Procedures and follows guidelines.
• Is familiar with responsibilities under all Privacy legislation.
• Abides by and promotes the AGH Employee Code of Conduct.
• Contributes to building and maintaining an organizational culture of patient safety.
• Ensures Health and Safety compliance of the workplace.
