One of our packaging clients is looking for a Machine Operator at Cornwall, ON location for their facility.
Pay - $20.50/hourShift - AfternoonKey Responsibilities:Operations & Monitoring:
- Operate and monitor plant equipment and machinery to ensure efficient production processes.
- Perform regular inspections and checks to detect any malfunctions or performance issues.
- Adjust machinery settings as needed to ensure optimal operation.
Maintenance & Repairs:
- Conduct routine maintenance on equipment and machinery, following prescribed schedules and manufacturer guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to perform more complex repairs and equipment overhauls.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with operational safety standards and regulations.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to supervisors and take immediate action where necessary.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment operations, maintenance activities, and any repairs performed.
- Assist in preparing operational reports for management to track production efficiency and equipment performance.
- Complete work orders and other required documentation using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with other team members, including engineers and maintenance staff, to ensure seamless operation and troubleshooting.
- Communicate any operational or maintenance challenges to the Operations Manager or relevant departments.
- Assist with the training of new team members on the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively suggest improvements to operational processes and maintenance routines to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing or 5S, to help optimize plant operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in an operational or maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of machinery operation, repair, and maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and the ability to maintain compliance in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
- Basic computer skills for logging maintenance data and completing work orders.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and organizational skills.
