We are growing as a company with a staff of over fifty dedicated employees. We are actively seeking a knowledgeable and experienced individual join our team as a Human Resources and Safety coordinator.
The HR and Safety Coordinator will oversee and manage all aspects related to human resources and workplace safety.
This role requires a blend of administrative proficiency, regulatory knowledge and interpersonal skills to ensure the efficient and compliant operation of HR processes and a safe work environment.
This person will report directly to the company Vice President and will work closely with our management team to implement company strategies.
Job Responsibilities:
Human Resources:
- Employee Relations: address employee concerns, manage conflict resolution and foster a positive workplace culture
- Performance Management: Assist in the development and implementation of performance management systems, including employee evaluation and developments plans
- Compliance: Ensure HR policies & practices follow government employment laws and regulations
- Recruitment and Onboarding – manage the recruitment process including hob postings, candidate screenings, interview and onboarding
- Coordinate employee training, maintain training records and manage employee certification renewals.
- Assist with organizing and supporting company events.
Safety:
- Organize, manage, maintain, and administer the Health and Safety Program.
- Ensures Health and Safety plans, Safe Work Processes and Hazard Assessments are current and updated; supports site leadership with lookahead planning
- Primary WorksafeBC Contact: Completing forms, staying current with requirements
- Conducts safety orientations for new employees and internal Health & Safety training where required
- Identifies safety training requirements, makes recommendations to Safety Committees
- Completes internal audits, hazard assessments and emergency preparedness plans
- Coordinates company requirements for maintaining COR Certification
- Maintains a WHMIS Program, including a current MSDS and staff training
- Monitors and advises on legislative and technical changes relating to Health and Safety
Job Requirements:
- Possess a strong knowledge and understanding of the Employment Standards Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Are proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook) and internet applications.
- Display a professional polite and diplomatic manner.
- Approach the role using high level strategic thinking that links to overall company strategy.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize, manage multiple projects, meet deadline in a fast-paced environment.
- Can work independently and in collaboration with others.
Our office hours are from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This is intended to be a full-time position. Following standard waiting periods, benefits include a flex-plan for both Health and Dental coverage and a company-matched retirement savings plan.
