What We're Looking For
Northern is seeking an experienced and highly technical Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer to join our development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex Salesforce Marketing Cloud solutions. You will work closely with other developers, architects, marketing teams, and stakeholders to create scalable marketing automations, journeys, data systems, and reports that optimize our clients' engagement strategies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud tools and various systems that it can integrate with. They will be experts in working with AMPscript, SSJS, and SQL. Experience working with marketing platforms for eCommerce retailers will allow this candidate to stand out. Duties & Responsibilities
- Build, configure, and customize Salesforce Marketing Cloud applications, including Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio, and Cloud Pages.
- Utilize AMPscript, SQL, SSJS, and HTML/CSS to automate data management, and enhance customer engagement workflows.
- Design and maintain complex data extensions, ensuring that marketing data is effectively segmented, queried, and managed for precise campaign targeting.
- Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce Marketing Cloud and external systems using REST and SOAP APIs. Ensure seamless synchronization between marketing cloud data and client databases, CRMs, and other platforms.
- Configure and customize interactive forms in emails and handle/process the results.
- Build and maintain scalable, automated workflows that handle millions of contacts and multi-step customer journeys, leveraging Marketing Cloud's advanced capabilities.
- Create custom scripts using AMPscript and SSJS to extend Marketing Cloud's out-of-the-box functionality, implementing complex logic and data manipulations.
- Ensure that all Marketing Cloud implementations are highly optimized for performance, with an emphasis on scalability, security, and reliability.
- Implement and enforce best practices for data security and privacy within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including managing roles, permissions, and audit logging.
- Write and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for solutions developed, including codebases, data models, and integration configurations.
- Setup and configure Salesforce Marketing Cloud Personalization features.
- Work closely with other developers, architects, and technical stakeholders to build cohesive, high-performance solutions across multiple platforms.
Knowledge, Education & Experience Required
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and configuring Salesforce Marketing Cloud applications with an emphasis on backend technical development.
- Proficiency in AMPscript, SQL, SSJS, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS for custom email development and data-driven personalization.
- Strong understanding of Marketing Cloud APIs (REST, SOAP) and experience integrating with other platforms and external systems.
- Solid experience designing and managing data extensions and utilizing SQL to query and manage large datasets within Marketing Cloud.
- Experience with Salesforce Contact Builder, Data Views, and advanced segmentation techniques.
- Familiarity with building custom Landing Pages using Cloud Pages and scripting for interactive experiences.
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications such as Marketing Cloud Developer Experience working with Git or other version control systems for source code management.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, including data encryption, roles, permissions, and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, highly technical environment.
- Experience in documenting technical specifications, architecture diagrams, and code changes.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with Salesforce Interaction Studio or Datorama for advanced data visualization and analytics.
- Knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud and integrating these with Marketing Cloud.
