Position Summary

The Manager, Global Taxation works with the VP, Global Taxation and manages a small team on all aspects of the Company's worldwide tax planning, dispute resolution, and tax compliance management responsibilities. The incumbent will be a key member of the Corporate Finance team with significant interface in bridging the tax, treasury and Corporate Controller's departments through management and coordination of global tax initiatives. This position works in cooperation with Finance professionals throughout Methanex's global regions to provide subject matter expertise on tax matters and is a people leader.

Position Responsibilities

North American and regional leadership in tax planning, compliance and managing dispute resolution

Responsible for Canadian and US federal, state/provincial and local level taxes including: managing tax planning for US inbound financing and tax structure managing and planning Louisiana franchise tax structure managing federal, state and provincial tax planning initiatives- ie, Carbon tax, Fuel tax, Superfund Tax, R&D credits, state sales apportionment, cost segregation managing compliance with Louisiana state and Ascension Parish tax incentives programs with Geismar team managing state and Parish level sales tax compliance with the Geismar and Dallas teams primary point of contact on managing all tax business integration issues for Geismar managing US and Canadian federal, state/provincial and local level tax annual compliance managing Geismar, Dallas and Vancouver finance teams on federal, state/provincial and local level tax instalments managing federal, state and provincial tax audits providing tax oversight on all provincial sales tax, insurance tax and Carbon tax issues Responsible for leading tax planning and overseeing tax compliance/dispute resolution for two or more global regions (ie. Asia, Belgium). Primary point of contact with regional finance and business teams on all tax matters. Support the US finance team in the preparation of accurate and timely US financial statements Support Canadian, US and (assigned) regional finance teams with implementation of new tax legislation and/or new restructuring and its impact on financial reporting. Primary point of contact with US, Canadian and regional tax advisors

Global tax planning initiatives

Support in the development, management and implementation of regional and international tax planning projects including repatriation planning and corporate restructuring Monitor and assess new tax developments globally and evaluate application to planning opportunities for Methanex Work with Treasury department in providing tax oversight and planning for all inter-affiliate financing work, ensuring that monies are transferred in a tax-efficient manner Identify and implement improvements to the corporate structure in response to business model changes on a timely and proactive manner Collaborate and advise on global core transfer pricing issues. Support implementation of global transfer pricing policies and maintenance of reports and relevant documentation Develop modelling to project future tax costs

Contribute to overall management and administration of tax department

Contribute to and implement corporate and departmental strategies Responsible for managing quarterly tax updates with all regions Responsible for management of global tax reserve analysis Responsible for providing tax support and assistance to Human Resources on expatriate tax issues and executive tax planning and research Serve as an intermediary to ensure tax, treasury and accounting records agree Provide input to the annual tax department budgeting process Maintain (system) processes and documents in accordance with applicable legislation and company guidelines Present various reports, as requested. Identify and implement system and process improvements

Position Qualifications

Education and/or Professional Designation

University degree Accounting designation such as CA, CGA, CMA or CPA Completion of CICA in-depth tax course and Masters in US Tax would be an asset

Experience and Technical Skills/Knowledge

8-10 years of post-designation accounting and industry experience Extensive tax knowledge Canadian, U.S., international Experience in global transfer pricing is highly desirable Ability to analyze and solve complex financial accounting and taxation issues thoroughly and accurately Knowledge of a global organization from a financial structure perspective Experience with ERP/Integrated accounting systems an asset Strong proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft 365, to create and manipulate spreadsheets, presentations and reports for senior leadership Strong communication skills Excellent organization, time management skills and attention to detail
