Lauren Services is a leading engineering firm specializing in innovative solutions for marine and offshore projects, with a focus on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) infrastructure. We are dedicated to delivering excellence in design, engineering, and project management services. Our team of experts is committed to sustainability, safety, and advancing the field of LNG engineering.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly qualified Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Marine Engineering and Hydrology, with a specialized focus on tailings sampling and renewable energy systems relevant to Canadian energy initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in marine engineering, offshore structures, and renewable energy technologies, particularly in wind, solar, and marine power. This role is essential for guiding our projects to ensure compliance with Canadian industry standards and driving innovation in energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert Guidance: Provide expert guidance on marine engineering principles and hydrological assessments specifically for Canadian energy projects, focusing on offshore structures and renewable energy technologies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Canadian regulations and standards, including:
  • Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) regulations for offshore operations.
  • Transport Canada Marine Safety regulations, emphasizing safety and environmental impact.
  • Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) relevant to renewable energy projects.
  • Methodology Development: Develop and implement methodologies for tailings sampling in remote Canadian locations, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Project Collaboration: Collaborate with project teams to develop design specifications, assessments, and feasibility studies for offshore wind, solar, and marine energy projects, ensuring designs accommodate Canada's unique marine conditions and integrate with existing infrastructure.
  • Field Participation: Actively participate in fieldwork, including sample collection, data logging, and site assessments in various Canadian environments.
  • Structural Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend innovative solutions for offshore structures, such as wind turbine foundations and support vessels, considering hydrodynamic forces, ice loads, and environmental impacts specific to Canadian waters.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for offshore renewable energy operations and tailings management, addressing challenges such as extreme weather and ecological considerations in Canada.
  • Technical Reviews: Participate in technical reviews and provide feedback on engineering designs and methodologies for renewable energy projects, ensuring they align with Canadian standards and best practices.
  • Training and Development: Conduct training sessions and workshops for internal teams and junior staff to enhance understanding of Canadian marine and hydrological practices, as well as renewable energy technologies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies in the Canadian renewable energy sector to foster collaboration and ensure project success.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Science, Hydrology, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in marine and hydrological consulting or marine engineering, with specific experience in offshore structures, wind turbines, and renewable energy projects within Canada.
  • Knowledge of Technologies: In-depth knowledge of marine systems, offshore wind and solar technologies, marine energy systems, and the relevant regulatory frameworks governing Canadian energy projects.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven experience in project management and leading multidisciplinary teams, particularly in the context of Canadian offshore renewable energy initiatives.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences, including regulatory bodies and project stakeholders in the Canadian context.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly related to challenges posed by offshore renewable energy development in Canada.
  • Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel as needed for project requirements across various locations in Canada.

If you meet these qualifications and are passionate about making a positive impact in marine engineering and hydrology within the Canadian energy sector, we encourage you to apply.
