The Care Company is looking for an awesome, self-driven Register Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to assist us with a lovely 16 year-old client in Brampton who requires a skilled Tracheostomy Care Nurse to oversee a team of unregulated healthcare workers who will be assisting and providing trach care to the client once she is discharged home from hospital. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH TRACHEOSTOMY CHANGES INCLUDING REMOVAL AND REINSERTION.

Shifts

  • Someone who can commit to an ongoing, weekly schedule (12 hour day and overnight shifts available)
  • this assignment is TEMPORARY in nature and will be from August 20th-September 16th with possibility for extension
  • MUST be able to start by August 20th
  • FULL TIME HOURS AVAILABLE WITH THIS CLIENT
  • All shifts including overnights are awake shifts, no sleeping permitted.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to providing personal care and help clients with their ADLs (hygiene assistance, bathing, and medications administration) that is within the scope of practice for a Register Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
  • oversee a team of unregulated healthcare workers and providing leadership, teaching, assistance, education, and support as required to support their learning and implementation of trach care for client
  • Provide exceptional patient care as outlined in their care plans, supporting patients with all applicable medical needs
  • Meets the safety needs of the client and uses equipment safely and properly
  • Observe the patients' medical health as well as their physical and mental responses
  • Functions within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practices safely and competently within the job description
  • Completes records and documentation accurately and thoroughly

Requirements

  • MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH TRACHEOSTOMY CHANGES INCLUDING REMOVAL AND REINSERTION.
  • leadership/teaching role experience is an asset
  • must be able to attend training sessions prior to assignment start date (trainings will be at our office located @ 864 Millwood Rd and @ SickKids hospital).
  • must be able to start working by Tuesday, August 20th and commit to a set schedule
  • must be able to communicate in English verbally and written

Other requirements include:

  • An asset if you own vehicle and have a valid driver's licence (not required)
  • Negative TB Test completed within the last year
  • CNO Registration and Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Certificate
  • COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
  • Valid Criminal Record Check - must be completed within the last year.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification
  • Valid WHMIS2015 certification from the last year
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed.
