We are looking for a Converting Utility Operator for our Hannon location. This position will be reporting to the Production Supervisor.
Broad PurposeTo safely operate forklift and other equipment and maintain the equipment/machinery to produce quality products per company quality policy and work and operate equipment in a safe manner at all times.
General Job Duties:
- Work in a team environment and be a team player
- Provide back-up relief for all positions as required
- Perform any and all set-up procedures in an efficient and cost-effective manner and run at or above the required standard set by the company
- Strap up and load scrap and ensure scrap trucks are loaded and assist cross carriage operator with the procedure for large loads
- Monitor and supply when skid/pallets, plywood tops and top sheets are required at presses
- Empty all waste containers and garbage bins as required
- Monitor partial warehouse units according to production
- When supplies/materials (ie: shrink wrap, tape, ink etc.) are received ensure they are stored in designated area immediately
- Follow all ISO and HACCP procedures
- Report all problems to your Supervisor or designate when they occur
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety and housekeeping practices, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Abide by all plant rules, safety rules and regulations of the Company
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designate
Safety Responsibility and Accountability:
- Follow equipment specific physical lock out tag out procedure
- Report all hazards / problems to your Supervisor when they occur.
Other available tools are when hazard rating is low.
- Pre-use inspection form
- Use Manager plus and place a work request
- Use of hazard reporting form
- Report injury / incident to your Supervisor immediately
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety act, and Good housekeeping practices.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) – Gloves, sleeves, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, Hi- viz vest in Shipping/warehouse
- Mobile equipment operator to ensure daily operator checklist is completed after use. I.e. Clamp truck, Forklift, Elevated work platforms.
- Abide by all plant rules, safety rules and regulations of the Company
- Keep fire equipment and exits clear all time
- Zero Tolerance - Workplace Violence and Harassment: Refer to the policy posted on the H&S board.
Education:
Minimum Grade 10
Basic Math
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
Previous manufacturing experiences an asset
Machine operation skills
Current Tow Motor permit
Organization skills
Good communication
Flexibility to work rotating shifts
Team Player
Self starter
