The Service Supervisor reports to the VP, Service. They are responsible for the successful daily operations of the service department. This position oversees and manages a team of Lead Hands and Service Mechanics.

Things you will do:

  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns as required representing Magnum professionally and respectfully.
  • Work closely with the service leadership team on customer and staffing concerns.
    • Performance management
    • Scheduling
    • Training & instruction
    • Technical support, etc.
  • Prioritize & organize workload in shop to meet and exceed customer expectations
  • Responsible for the overall organization of the shop on a daily basis which includes but is not limited to:
    • Scheduling of service jobs
    • Movement of equipment
    • Assignment of work to staff
    • Clean-up and organization of tools and equipment
  • Provide service writing & parts ordering/issuing support as required
  • Perform administrative duties including but not limited to:
    • Employee time off requests
    • Payroll & labour adjustments
    • Shift summaries / communication log which includes shift notes, customer updates, parts order status etc.
    • Safety reporting
  • Provide first aid coverage as required (after successful completion of level 2 certification)
  • Oversee maintenance functions and ensure that equipment malfunctions / deficiencies are reported in a timely fashion
  • Focus on safety as the main priority and ensure employees are operating in accordance with standards
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives across the shop to improve efficiencies, throughput and quality of workmanship
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What you have:

  1. Completion of HD/CT Program through accredited educational institute OR:
  2. 5-10 years' experience in a Service shop / Trucking industry
  3. Technical knowledge and understanding of heavy equipment & service repairs
  4. Experience leading teams
  5. Proficient use of Microsoft office suite applications
  6. Knowledge and understanding ERP systems (Visual preferred)
