Job Description:

As a key member of our team, you will:

  • Read and interpret blueprints for planning, setup, and operation of manual machine shop tools
  • Machine parts with precision according to drawings
  • Perform quality and quantity checks on machined parts
  • Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments
  • Plan, set up, and operate various machine shop tools
  • Maintain, repair, and calibrate precision measuring instruments
  • Produce and test parts to company specifications
  • Engage in manual machining of single and production parts
  • Machine components for dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures
  • Undertake other assigned tasks as needed

Qualifications/Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience working as a machinist in a machine shop and/or manufacturing environment
  • Completion of a relevant machinist certificate or diploma is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings required
  • Experience in the use of precision measuring tools such as Vernier calipers and height gauges
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex machining problems and shifting priorities
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering drawings to be able to fabricate jigs and equipment fixtures
  • Valid driver's license

Working Environment

Dynamic manufacturing facility with tasks involving moderate lifting of materials and products. Operating in this setting necessitates the use of safety gear, including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protectors, and CSA Approved Safety Shoes. Upon successful completion of a 3-month probation period, a workshop uniform will be supplied.
