We're looking for a Head of Data to join our growing team (based in downtown Toronto but also open to remote candidates)! The Head of Data will report to the CEO of Ratehub, be part of the C suite, formulate the vision of Data across the company and execute. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with Engineering and Data Science expertise that can work seamlessly with business partners, Business Unit Leaders, Engineers, Data Scientists, Modelers and the CEO to build Data as a strong asset across Ratehub.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership:
- Own the vision and roadmap for Data at Ratehub.ca
- Be the partner to the CEO in setting up the organization to own our data, own our members
- Be the expert on our data, modeling, definitions, and processes and tools
- Foster a culture of owning the membership data, data fluency and data-driven decision-making across the organization
- Run Data as a business within the broader Ratehub Membership business
- Mentor and grow the Data team to build best in class talent across Data Science, Data Engineering, Modeling, Analytics and retain them
Data analysis and reporting:
- Own the vision and drive best practices across:
- Data ingestion - First party and 3rd party
- Data harvesting
- Data Engineering
- Data Analysis
- Modeling
- Model the data to drive price optimization, Revenue optimization, Member insights, approval odds, pre-approvals etc.
- Business Insights
- Member insights
- Marketing
- Pricing
- Revenue
- Credit
- Products
- Integrate with strategic partners such as credit bureaus, banks, financial institutions etc.
- Own Data science, modeling, reporting and monitoring of our key metrics
- Uncover actionable insights for our product, business and marketing teams and communicating those insights effectively to key stakeholders
- Design experiments and iterate to drive outcomes across product, pricing and marketing
Data warehousing and governance:
- Design, implement, and manage all of the tools and processes necessary to enable data-informed decisions across the organization
- Ensure that the correct systems and processes are in place to maintain data integrity and standardized metrics across the business
- Define the business needs for a centralized data warehouse and reporting system which integrates key internal and external datasets and enables self-service analysis
- Coordinate development efforts in building a highly reliable and accurate data warehouse and reporting tools
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven Data Leader in Financial Services
- Experience building and scaling Data teams
- Strong commercial mindset
- Strong Thinker/Doer
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity
- Post-secondary degree: Our ideal candidate has a Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Economics or Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in Data and analytics roles. Ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience
- Proficiency with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ad Words and Heap (or similar)
- Experience with reporting visualization tools (Looker, Tableau or similar)
- Experience defining, designing and evolving a large data warehouse, including architecture, table schemas and technology selections
- Comfort with Python, SQL, and ideally some familiarity with R
- Experience with cloud hosting platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), schedule runners (Airflow) and data transformation tools (dbt) is considered an asset
- Experience in hiring, training, mentoring and retaining talented team members
