Our client, a leading financial services organization, is embarking on the modernization of their core platform and is looking to hire a Senior Akka Developer to support this transformation.

Location: 3-days on-site in DownTown Toronto

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate within an Agile team to develop innovative services and applications that leverage the latest technologies, playing a critical role in advancing the client's high-performance, scalable API and engines platform.
  • Design, build, and optimize reusable libraries and frameworks, while gaining access to internal development resources, including learning portals and community networks. Stay ahead of emerging industry trends and apply this knowledge to craft creative, forward-thinking solutions.
  • Take ownership of delivering user stories, whether through pair programming or independently, ensuring robust code quality through comprehensive automated testing practices.
  • Provide expert-level technical support in the architecture, design, development, and testing of tailored cloud computing solutions, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Engage closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and product managers, to drive the modernization and transformation of the organization's core platform, enabling future scalability and efficiency.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Cloud development experience with platforms such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PVC) and/or Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.
  • 5+ years of experience in application development using Spring Boot.
  • 5+ years of expertise in Java or Scala within a production environment.
  • Extensive experience developing with Akka or other reactive programming toolkits.
  • Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka for messaging and streaming.
  • Experience with Apache Camel for integration purposes.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MariaDB.
  • Working knowledge of performance monitoring tools like Dynatrace.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and within a team.
