Position Summary:

The Flow Monitoring Project Analyst (FMPA) is responsible for providing support in various flow monitoring functions, including mapping, and flow and rainfall monitoring analysis and reporting. This may include providing information on flow and rainfall monitoring, sewer networks, background information, and sewer performance. The FMPA provides advice and support to supervisors and ensures that they have accurate and timely information in order to make effective decisions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Coordination
  • Work with team leads, supervisors, and field staff to determine project needs and resources required to complete tasks (both field and internal staffing needs), and schedule work as needed
  • Coordinate field work with Field Operations Manager and field staff
  • Write project updates and reports for clients
  • Communicate with stakeholders (municipal staff, emergency services, MOECC, property owners/tenants, etc.) and clients regarding field work
  • Provide QA/QC of field data (flow monitors, rain gauges, flow monitors, CCTV, lot inspections, fog and dye, etc.)
  • Provide feedback to PMs and field staff supervisors regarding issues/efficiency with field data
  • Coordinate site access (road occupancy permits, work zone access, paid-duty officers, )
  • Provide cost estimates for field work/services
  • Assist with proposal preparation
  • Conduct general administrative tasks for projects, such as printing documents and developing business/promotion services with existing and potential clients
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and/or templates
  • Provide QA/QC on technical documents
  • Provide project updates and reporting results internally and externally, as needed
  1. Perform Project Analysis
  • Work with Software Development team to improve functionality of DataCurrent.
  • Ensure that flow and rainfall data and calibration records are up‐to‐date
  • Upload data into Civica's DataCurrent system
  • Manage and respond to rain/flow monitoring alarms
  • Determine if flow and rainfall data is suitable for model calibration, and provide to modellers when necessary
  • Analyze flow and rainfall data to determine I/I rates, dry weather flow, groundwater infiltration rates, and rainfall return‐frequency.
  1. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
  • Ensure that all GIS data is up-to-date and accurate
  • Provide inspection/flow monitoring location maps to field staff/field supervisors
  • Use GIS to check asset information/make decisions regarding field staff questions/concerns
  1. Perform other related duties as required

Working Conditions: Normal working hours in a field environment. May be required to deal with difficult clients, homeowners, or contractors. Will likely deal under tight deadlines, and may be required to work overtime and/or weekends to meet project requirements.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of Engineering (Environmental engineering or Civil engineering), or any technical program with an emphasis on quantitative analysis
  • Skill in the standard Microsoft Office software with advanced Excel skills and preferably with experience working with databases i.e. cleaning, manipulating and analyzing large datasets
  • Basic knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics
  • Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
  • Working knowledge of Project Management Principles
  • Has a strong safety mindset
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical reports, proposals, presentations, standard operating procedures, standards, and other project and operations-related documents
