Job Location: Brockville, Ontario
Salary Range / Classification: $21.41 per hour, and [when assigned as a Cook, you will receive a responsibility allowance of ten (10) dollars for each scheduled shift]
Job Type: Temporary Part time (for up to twelve (12) months)

Position Overview
Reporting to the Nutrition Manager, the Dietary Cook Aide provides plates and serves food to residents of the Manor.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Read write and accurately follow written and verbal instructions they relate to food preparation, storage and serving protocols
  • Plating and serve resident's food
  • Follow with accuracy the specific needs and requirements of each resident's diet
Skills and Knowledge
  • Completion of high school (grade 12)
  • Completion of a Food Safety Awareness Program Certificate
  • Certified as a Cook, Apprentice, Cook 2 (assistant) preferred or Food Service Worker Course and kitchen experience
  • Experience and certification in hotel and restaurant kitchen management
  • Have working knowledge of therapeutic diets and portion control
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with the residents of a LTC home
  • Ability to work under stress
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
  • Previous experience providing laundry and / or sanitation services an asset
  • Previous experience working in a long-term care home an asset

Working Conditions:
  • Stand and walk for long periods
  • Sit for short periods
  • Bend, stoop, and carry
  • Push/pull wheeled equipment
  • Safely transfer and lift (up to 20 kg.) in accordance with Sherwood Park Manor's transfer and lift procedures Work in a busy environment with interruptions and multiple ongoing priorities.
  • Performing tasks during the summer months without climate control.
  • Use of cooking equipment and cleaning and maintenance of said equipment
  • Work day, evening, night shifts; weekends, holidays and for call-in shifts
  • Manor policies require all employees to properly wear surgical masks and N-95 when necessary
  • Obtain and pass a Vulnerable Sector Check, if one available must be less then 6 months old
  • Must have an up to date 2 –step TB test
  • All candidates must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 including all booster doses as you become eligible. Staff participate in rapid antigen testing and active screening.
