TRIGO Global Quality Solutions has an immediate opening for a Controller in Pickering, ON.

Overall Purpose

Responsible for overseeing Accounting for US and Canadian companies. Responsible for the Department's general ledger and chart of accounts and ensuring that all financial reporting is in accordance with Trigo's policies and generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS).

Reports to

Chief Financial Officer

Responsibilities

Client relationship & Business development

• Maintain relationships with banking representatives
• Key contact for tax and audit consultants
• Key contact for inter-company financial transactions
• Liaise with vendors as required to ensure accuracy of expenses and liabilities
• Assist in ensuring financial strength to promote growth

Operations

• Prepare monthly financial reports, including journal entries
• Participate in monthly financial review meetings
• Treasury management including foreign currency exchange as needed
• External Debt interest entries and quarterly payments
• Payroll entries, including HST input tax credit calculation in Canada

• Calculation and Processing of monthly benefit costs

• Ensure monthly financial information is uploaded into Corporate reporting system
• Submit government tax filings/payments and census reports (Canada and US) including quarterly and annual filing for all companies
• Coordinate with external auditors for annual financial review and statements

Organization & management

• Manage accounting team
• Provide in-depth analysis and reports on performance by company and department
• Review accounts payable invoices
• Review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
• Review complex accounting entries
• Ensure prudent tax management and compliance

Technical

• Provide guidance with application of Accounting Principles
• Assist with user training for the financial systems
• Administration of banking access for users
• Administration of corporate credit cards
• Continuous process improvement
