Our client is urgently seeking a Site Superintendent to join their team for an immediate opening. The successful candidate must have a strong background in commercial construction with experience working on mid-size ground-up projects for previous general contractors. This role is focused on overseeing the expansion of a community centre, requiring leadership and hands-on involvement throughout the project lifecycle. Experience in the Ottawa area and with general contractors is essential.
Key Responsibilities:- Project Oversight: Lead and manage the expansion of a community centre, ensuring all work is completed to high standards of quality and safety.
- Scheduling: Collaborate with the project management team to establish and maintain construction schedules, ensuring project milestones are met on time.
- Team Supervision: Manage and coordinate sub-contractors, field staff, and laborers to ensure smooth project execution and on-time delivery.
- Leadership: Ensure construction is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and building codes, with a focus on maintaining excellence throughout.
- Daily Reporting: Maintain detailed records of site progress, inspections, and daily activities to keep all stakeholders informed.
- Multi-project Experience: Supervise and deliver mid-size ground-up projects from start to finish.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of site supervisory experience in commercial construction.
- Must have experience in mid-size ground-up projects, ideally including community centers or similar facilities.
- Proven experience working with general contractors on commercial projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Building Codes and construction regulations.
- Strong blueprint reading skills and the ability to interpret plans accurately.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to motivate and manage on-site personnel effectively.
- Safety-focused with a solid understanding of all relevant safety requirements and regulations.
- Current certifications in WHMIS, CSA Supervisors Training, Safety Awareness, First Aid, Working at Heights, and Elevated Work Platform.
- Strong carpentry skills and the ability to perform handyman tasks as needed.
