Job Description

As a key advocate for our retail teams in Eastern North America, the HR Business Partner is dedicated to supporting the well-being, growth, and success of approximately 200 employees across 11 stores. You'll be the first point of contact for our employees, ensuring that their needs are met and that all Canada Goose initiatives and retail-specific programs are tailored to support their success. Your role is central to creating a positive, engaging work environment where everyone can thrive.

What You'll Do:

  • Employee Relations Support: Serve as a trusted advisor to our retail teams, offering guidance and support on all employee relations matters. You'll coach employees on our policies, ensuring they feel heard, respected, and fairly treated.
  • Compliance and Advocacy: Champion a safe and inclusive workplace by staying on top of employment laws, Health & Safety standards, and Human Rights legislation in Ontario, Quebec, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Your knowledge will help protect our team members' rights and ensure compliance across all locations.
  • Investigation Leadership: Partner with Retail Leadership to handle employee concerns with empathy and professionalism, leading investigations that prioritize fairness and transparency.
  • Workforce Relations Expertise: Apply your deep understanding of workforce dynamics to support and enhance the employee experience at Canada Goose.
  • Policy Communication: Be the go-to person for policy, procedure, and program inquiries, helping to ensure consistency, equity, and clarity across all teams.
  • Onboarding Excellence: Collaborate with Retail Experience leaders to create a welcoming and comprehensive onboarding process that helps new team members feel valued and integrated from day one.
  • HRIS Support: Assist employees with HRIS-related inquiries, ensuring they have the tools and information they need to succeed.
  • Health and Safety Advocacy: Work closely with key stakeholders to maintain a safe and secure work environment, managing disability claims with care and adhering to best practices and legislative requirements.
  • Learning and Development: Foster a culture of continuous learning by working with retail management to identify and implement development plans that empower our people to grow in their roles.
  • Performance Management: Provide guidance on performance management, ensuring a fair and consistent approach that supports both employee growth and company standards.
  • Exit Processes and Insights: Conduct exit interviews with empathy and professionalism, ensuring legal compliance and using insights to recommend improvements that can reduce turnover.
  • Recruitment Partnership: Collaborate with HQ to support the recruitment process, helping to bring in talented individuals who align with our values and culture.
  • Confidentiality and Documentation: Safeguard employee information with the utmost confidentiality, maintaining accurate records throughout the employment lifecycle.
  • HR Projects and Initiatives: Support and drive various HR projects and initiatives that enhance the employee experience and align with the strategic goals of Canada Goose.

Let's Talk About You:

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in Human Resources.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, and the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of employment and labor standards, along with Human Rights legislation in Canada and the U.S.
  • Ability to seek and provide guidance on multi-province/state legislation.
  • Autonomous with a strong ability to engage and align with CG HQ.
  • Confidence in managing conflicts and developing people-centered solutions.
  • Excellent influencing, negotiating, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Creativity and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Passion for supporting the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment to career development.
  • A high degree of confidentiality, integrity, and trustworthiness.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • A team player dedicated to building strong relationships and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Business travel required 15% of the time to visit our amazing stores on the East Coast of North America
