Gillfor Distribution is seeking an Intermediate Accountant for an 18-month contract to cover a maternity leave beginning January 2025 through June 2026. This individual will work with the accounting team supporting the current branches across Canada. The focus of this role will be accounts payable invoicing and approvals, daily reconciling of the bank and intercompany (branch) transactions. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills sets are among some of the attributes to be successful in this role.

This position requires the person to work on site at the Bolton office location and will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Standard working hours Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with a team.
• Must possess a high level of professionalism and integrity.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask.

Job Description:

• Daily Reconciliations of Bank and Intercompany transactions
• Monthly General Ledger account reconciliations
• Accounts payable invoice processing and approvals
• Government remittances and Sales Tax filings
• Month end processing
• Correspond with external auditors
• Maintain Capital Asset schedules for Depreciation and Insurance
• Property and Business tax remittances and corporate registrations
