The Opportunity

InnPower is growing! Join us as a Purchaser/Stockkeeper. Reporting to the Supply Chain Operations Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for placing orders, receiving material, stores material, issuing and shipping material used in the outside operation of InnPower and its affiliates.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Order most of the material and vehicles for the outside operations after obtaining the best price via tender and quote submissions and delivery from various suppliers while working within appropriate budgets.
  • Maintain knowledge of appropriate suppliers' capabilities and an awareness of conditions in the market on assigned goods and keep supervisor informed.
  • Check for availability of standard substitute or surplus material.
  • Unload supplier trucks and stock the items in the storeroom.
  • Follow-up material delivery with suppliers.
  • Issue and return stock items and record the transactions for accounting distribution.
  • Take periodic physical inventories for accounting purposes and for reordering purposes.
  • Assist clerical personnel and local contractors to reconcile movement of material.
  • Maintain security of stores material and yard
  • Maintain and organize records.
  • Arrange with transport companies for shipping of material and prepare bills of lading.
  • Assemble stores materials from work orders for usage by contractors and sign off on job completion.
  • Perform manual labour around offices and in the field as required, ensuring workplace safety.
  • Supply prices of materials to accounting and engineering.
  • Reconcile unmatched purchased materials to the vendor invoice.
  • Make recommendations to supervisor on various aspects of stores operation to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Assist in providing costs for budget purposes.
  • Work closely with the Accounting Department in maintaining efficient purchasing procedures and inventory control.
  • Recommend, document, and arrange for disposal of scrap and/or surplus, and obsolete material.
  • Inspect PCB storage site monthly and issue annual report to MOEE (register annually with HWIN).
  • Negotiate and coordinate regular maintenance and repairs of company vehicles.
  • Organize and implement maintenance, renovations, and additions to buildings and the yard, obtaining tenders and quotes as applicable.
  • Obtain and deliver materials to line crews following all safety procedures.
  • Ensure purchasing procedures for line hardware confirm to ESA standards.
  • Maintain fleet, including vehicle testing and maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in business/finance/accounting is an asset.
  • Certified purchasing designation is an asset.
  • Valid forklift truck certificate.
  • A valid Ontario Class 'G' Drivers License with an excellent driving record.
  • A good understanding of electrical distribution system materials and their use, as well as electric water heaters and parts.
  • A good understanding of inventory control.
  • Proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Great Plains.
  • Ability to deal professionally and tactfully.
