Salary:

Our client, Moonfleet Poultry in Harriston, ON, is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Administrator. This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of weekly payroll and maintenance of benefit programs for 20 payroll reporting segments. The successful candidate will possess knowledge of payroll compliance, legislation, and general accounting principles and procedures. Moonfleet Poultry seeks a detail-oriented individual who is a proven team player. This full-time position (40 hours per week).

This role is on-site in Harriston, ON with travel to the Fergus office 1-2 days a week as needed.

Payroll:

  • Accurately process weekly payroll using ADP payroll software.
  • Import payroll entries into the accounting system and reconcile with the General Ledger, ensuring accurate expense and liability accounts.
  • Identify and implement potential improvements in payroll and control processes.
  • Manage year-end filings, including the production of T4s and T2200s.
  • Maintain payroll records to meet both internal and external requirements.
  • Conduct annual payroll audits for external auditors.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting department to ensure accurate payroll costing and provide necessary information for corporate tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations for payroll functions.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure accurate processing of new hires, terminations, and merit increases.
  • Promptly respond to payroll-related inquiries from managers, employees, and the finance department.

Benefits:

  • Perform month-end accruals and reconcile benefit accounts and payroll sub-ledger with the General Ledger.
  • Administer employee benefits, remit premiums, and maintain benefit files.
  • Handle Group RRSP remittances, monthly enrollments, and liaise with the RSP provider to address employee queries.

Reporting:

  • Ensure timely remittance and reporting of statutory contributions in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and vacation reporting.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis and provide reporting on wages and benefits in financial statements.
  • Maintain headcount reporting and provide ad hoc reports and trend analyses as needed.
  • Compile budgetary information during the annual planning cycle.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education & Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience.
  • Certified Payroll Designation through the National Payroll Institute (NPI) or working towards.
  • Experience in full cycle accounting is an asset.
  • Experience with ADP is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in a computerized software environment is mandatory.
