Sales Manager - Air

Job Type: Full Time
Location: Remote
Reporting to: Air Manager (East/West)

Goway Travel was founded in Toronto in 1970 by Bruce Hodge, a young Australian economist who moved to Canada to follow his dreams.

From there, we have established ourselves as a global influence with offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Sydney, and Manila. While the travel industry endured major challenges, our strong foundations allowed Goway to forge ahead. We continually innovated, invested in new technology, and challenged the status quo.

Still owned and operated by Bruce, with the support of his leadership board, our mission has always been to help our clients realize their travel dreams. Today, we are an industry-leading, global travel company with over 600 employees. Our team of experts utilizes cutting-edge technology to tailor-make 4 and 5-star travel experiences in over 100 countries around the world.

At Goway Travel, we're not just a company; we're a family of dreamers and doers, inspired by our founder's incredible journey. He didn't just follow a career path; he followed his heart, and in doing so, he built a company that helps others follow theirs.

If you're passionate about travel and innovation, we invite you to be a part of our exciting journey!

The Role:

Air sales division is responsible for quoting air-only requests to Travel Agencies within North America. The Sales Manager - Air oversees the entry and management of air travel quotes and bookings using TBX, GDS, and Amadeus systems while ensuring accuracy in fare construction and compliance with airline contracts. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service and sales skills, in-depth knowledge of airline routings, and experience in closing deals while meeting sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all quotes are properly entered into the TBX reservation system, with notes advising ticketing deadlines, changes, and cancellation penalties.
  2. Ensure all queues (both GDS and internal TBX) are checked and cleared daily (e.g., schedule changes, canceled flights, and HX segments).
  3. Ensure all PNRs or TBX files are properly updated with action or information notes (e.g., when speaking with an agent, remark the file in GDS/TBX).
  4. All quotes and bookings must be followed up on the same day with a phone call to ensure the agent has received the information.
  5. Follow up on all quotes to ensure the sale is closed (refer to the company follow-up policy).
  6. Ask agents/clients at the time of booking for any seat preferences, meal requests, rewards, or frequent flyer numbers.
  7. Report any errors in fares within GDS or TBX immediately to your team lead or manager.
  8. Ensure you are properly logged into the phone system for your entire shift (e.g., set to "Available" status).
  9. Handle all calls with the utmost professional care. Calls should not be transferred to voicemail; only warm transfers are permitted. All bookings must be handled with the same care as if they were your own.
  10. Ensure all requests are handled the same day (quotes, changes, and complaints).
  11. Send invoices, commission refunds, and e-tickets on the same day the ticket is issued or full payment is made on the file.
  12. Properly fill out all script notes for re-issues, new tickets, and refunds after queuing them to ticketing.
  13. Meet yearly and monthly sales targets.
  14. Route-specific tasks to ensure competitiveness and up-to-date information.
  15. Verify all bookings (fares) after accepting payments.
  16. Ensure credit card and check payments are verified for accuracy after issuing tickets.
  17. Our hours of operation are 9 AM to 9 PM (Monday to Friday) and 10 AM to 6 PM (Saturday). You may be required to work later shifts from time to time. Everyone is required to work a Saturday shift twice a month.
  18. Attend onsite and offsite training seminars.
