We are looking for a dedicated Pipelayer to join our growing earthworks team. This role is essential in ensuring the accurate and efficient installation of underground utilities, helping us build from the ground up and power forward in our projects.

Please note, the majority of our projects are located in and around Vancouver

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utility Installation and Repair: Install and repair underground utilities such as sanitary, storm, water, and electrical systems according to blueprints.
  • Trenching and Excavation: Assist in trenching and excavation activities; set grades and slopes using laser levels and mark cut areas for machine operators.
  • Pipe Installation: Install various types of pipes, including PVC, HDPE, ductile, and concrete; assist in rigging and placing pipes into trenches; ensure proper sealing and jointing to meet pressure testing standards.
  • Backfilling and Compaction: Backfill around installed pipes and ensure proper compaction using subbase and bedding materials.
  • Shoring and Rigging: Apply knowledge of shoring requirements and perform safe rigging operations; inspect all rigging and shoring prior to use.
  • Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport construction materials safely and efficiently.
  • Tool and Equipment Operation: Operate power tools, tampers, cut-off saws, skid steers, and compaction equipment; use laser levels to set elevations.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order, including minor maintenance tasks such as lubrication and cleaning.
  • Safety and Compliance: Participate in safety meetings and complete required safety forms (e.g., FLRA, inspections, checklists); address any safety concerns.
  • Ongoing Education and Training: Engage in ongoing training and education provided by the company to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with the crew and clients, both verbally and non-verbally; provide exceptional customer service and maintain positive working relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience with at least 4 years as a pipelayer.
  • Experience with skid steer operation (500-1000 hours)
  • Clean Driver's Abstract and valid license required.
  • Relevant certifications are assets, including:
    • Trades education
    • First Aid Certification
    • Confined space training
    • HDPE Fusing ticket
  • Proficiency in using laser levels, understanding trenching and shoring requirements, and pressure testing protocols.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Technical literacy with iPads/iPhones and related applications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent bending, stretching, reaching, and lifting (up to 100 lbs).
  • Capacity to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind).
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk on uneven surfaces or stairs for most of the day.
