Position Summary

The BIM Specialist assists in obtaining, evaluating, and coordinating all information needed to construct the project in accordance with the contract documents. Using Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools and processes to optimize project workflows, the BIM Technician ensures all construction projects are built to the highest level of quality possible.

As a BIM Specialist your key accountabilities will involve:

• Controlling and maintaining models in an organized manner in the appropriate project directory system, as per company standards.
• Utilizing collaboration techniques for information management and implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM).
• Actively promoting and contributing to the successful completion of projects from initial concept, through the planning process to implementation.
• Facilitating the timely and orderly collection and/or coordination of all consultant BIM models.
• Working with the project team to develop and implement schedule visualization workflows.
• Educating and guiding the site team on the workflows related to schedule visualization.
• Facilitating, in conjunction with the site team, the site logistics plan in a model environment and assisting the site team in the development of schedule visualization models.
• Reviewing models from designers, subcontractors, and others to ensure proper coordination and installation.
• Running all clash reports using design models issued by design consultants and/or models created by the Ventana BIM department.
• Issuing RFI clash detection report and work with the project teams to refine the document to the final issued version.
• Running clash report and coordinating subcontractor shop drawing models against design.
• Modelling various disciplines from 2D designs for use in clash detection and constructability methods.
• Assisting in the administration of the BIM Execution Plan as prescribed by either the Consultant or Client.
• During the pursuit stage, working with the project team to review and recommend scopes that BIM tools and processes can be incorporated into the project.
• Performing design coordination and assisting in identifying constructability issues with the project team and subcontractors.
• Assisting in training project staff and subcontractors on BIM-related workflows as required.
• Preparing 4D simulations on an ad-hoc basis.
• Performing various project duties related to project BIM deployment as required.
• Potentially participating in proposal writing with respect to BIM and other integrated technologies.
• Completing other responsibilities as assigned by the BIM Manager.

As a BIM Specialist your experience and qualifications will include:

• Architectural Technology Diploma or B. Arch; Revit MEP. from BCIT, SAIT or any technical institution.
• Between 2-5 years' experience working as a BIM Specialist.
• Proficiency with Navisworks, Revit and Collaborate Pro.
• Experience with 4D modelling and 5D takeoff is considered an asset.
• Experience within Construction or Architecture is considered an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• The ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to staff members and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
