The Program

Safer Communities through Support for Adults Exiting Gangs: Lethbridge Project supports individuals who are incarcerated at the Lethbridge Correctional Centre (LCC) or residing in the Lethbridge Community and voluntarily interested in exiting or avoiding gang membership. The program supports adults aged 18 years and older who are gang-involved, addressing their complex needs including basic needs, employment, education, mental health and addictions and housing. Through a client-centered case management approach, individuals are supported with successful reintegration into their communities along with helping to reduce the gang and gun activity and violence within the Lethbridge community.

The Position

The Caseworker will work with program participants to get connected to appropriate services and resources, achieve independence from gang connection, and successfully reintegrate into the community. This client-centered case management approach includes: Creating client-centered case management plans, navigating relationships with natural supports, goal setting, crisis resolution, accessing addiction and/or mental health counseling, accessing financial support, basic needs, securing affordable and safe housing, cultural connections, systems navigation, finding and maintaining employment/education, and creating positive lifestyle opportunities. Practicing client centered case management, the Caseworker will build supportive community relationships; complete casework documentation; do data collection; and report outcomes. 

As an ideal candidate, you will:

  • Be a resident of Lethbridge and area
  • Solid case management skills
  • Demonstrate crisis prevention/intervention skills 
  • Know the Criminal Justice System 
  • Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation 
  • Possess a post-secondary education in a relevant discipline
  • Have completed the AFWI Brain Story Certification
