The Role:
The Chargehand is an expert of electrical codes, responsible for Project Managing and Supervising the on- site installation of multiple projects, ensuring successful project delivery. This role will plan, supervise, and execute electrical installations from mobilization to completion, including assisting with managing change orders. The Chargehand is proactive with identifying issues and overcoming roadblocks, ensuring all onsite activities are safely executed within schedule, budget, and scope while meeting customer expectations. Ensures that job sites are clean and organized, while coaching and enforcing safe work practices. They are responsible for coaching, motivating, and mentoring the crew and taking corrective action according to Leading Edge Electric's values, policies, and procedures. Interactions with team members, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers are positive and professional.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of electricians and apprentices on various job
sites. - Perform electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance for residential,
commercial, and industrial projects. - Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Ensure compliance with all local and national electrical codes and safety
regulations. - Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical systems and equipment.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
- Monitor progress, provide direction, and resolve any on-site issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work completed, time spent, and
materials used. - Mentor and train apprentices, ensuring they adhere to safety standards and
develop their skills.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Electrician certification and experience in a supervisory or leadership
role. - 5+ years in commercial electrical construction and/or electrical service and
maintenance. - 2+ years relevant experience as Chargehand leading crews and large
projects successfully. - Proven experience working on residential, commercial, and industrial
electrical systems. - Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical
documents. - Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
Direct Reports:
All journey persons and apprentices (on-site) will report to the Chargehand.
Compensation:
- $47.61+/hour
- 6% Vacation
