Position Summary:

West Fraser Barwick is seeking a safety-oriented individual to join our team as a Journeyman Millwright. This position is supporting our Barwick OSB manufacturing facility. This role will provide fluid power expertise and leadership, working with cross functional teams to improve machine reliability and operating performance. This role creates value by ensuring machine reliability through troubleshooting and preventative maintenance techniques on industrial plant equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process.
  • Undertake preventative maintenance program for equipment.
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to repair equipment.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.
  • Work in aerial lifts with the use of fall protection equipment.
  • Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders.
  • Verify and document repairs made.
  • Work in a safe manner using proper PPE.

Knowledge:

  • A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification, or a Millwright Apprentice preparing to enroll in their 4th year;
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability for shift work including days, nights and/or week-ends;
  • Ability to work at heights;
  • A positive attitude, ability to work safely, mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, and willingness to learn.
