About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Produce Department Manager to oversee daily operations of the Produce department and team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service, managing inventory, leading and developing a team, and driving sales growth. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in a customer-service retail environment.

What you'll do:

Leadership and Team Management:

• Supervise, train, and develop department staff
• Schedule and delegate tasks to ensure efficient department operations
• Foster a positive and inclusive work environment
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback

Customer Service:

• Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing customer needs and resolving issues promptly
• Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing department
• Provide product knowledge and assist customers in finding items

Inventory and Stock Management:

• Monitor produce quality, inventory levels and ordering
• Work closely with Director of Food Service to minimize waste via fresh food preparation of produce
• Coordinate with suppliers and manage deliveries

Sales and Merchandising:

• Implement merchandising strategies to optimize product placement and sales
• Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities for growth
• Develop and execute promotional activities and special displays

Compliance and Safety:

• Work with our in-house Rabbi to ensure compliance with Kosher Law, and health and safety regulations
• Maintain accurate records and reports as required
• Implement and enforce store policies and procedures
  

What you'll bring:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, retail management, or a related field preferred

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a produce management role

• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing budgets

Skills:

• Strong leadership and team-building skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficiency in inventory management and point-of-sale (POS) systems

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs at a time and work in environments of extreme temperatures (for example, when in the produce cooler)
