Payroll & HR Coordinator (Part-Time 3-Month Term)

We're looking for a Payroll & HR Coordinator to join our amazing team! This is a fantastic opportunity for a payroll professional ready to expand their skills while contributing to payroll functions. The primary focus will be on payroll, but experience with HR coordination is an asset and offers further opportunities for growth within our team.

Key Responsibilities:

The Payroll & HR Coordinator will focus primarily on payroll functions:

Payroll Functions:

  • Perform full-cycle payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, including Alberta's payroll standards.
  • Maintain payroll records, including employee data, tax information, and deductions.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from clients and employees in a timely manner.
  • Assist with year-end payroll tasks, including preparing T4s and other government filings.
  • Ensure accurate remittances to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and other government bodies.

HR Functions (Asset):

  • HR-related tasks such as full-cycle recruitment, onboarding assistance, and drafting HR documents would be an asset but are not required for the role.
  • Participation in HR projects like compensation benchmarking and employee engagement would also be an asset if the candidate has relevant experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A high level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to manage client and employee inquiries.
  • The ability to work independently and within a collaborative team enviroment.
  • A willingness to learn new technology and systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in full-cycle payroll, with a strong understanding of payroll laws and compliance.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems such as Payworks, Rise, & Ceridian, and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Human Resources experience or education (Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree) would be an asset.
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel to client sites, as necessary.

Work Hours:

This is a temporary 3-month term position with the possibility of becoming permanent. The role requires a minimum of 22.5 hours per week (3 days at 7.5hr/day), Monday through Friday.
