Corporate Controller

Position Overview:

The Corporate Controller will be responsible for the corporate accounting department for a national organization with multiple operating companies. The Corporate Controller will be a hands-on & engaged professional motivated to support an excellent & experienced accounting team to ensure the accuracy & completeness of the organization's financial & operational results are paramount.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Corporate Controller will be an A-type personality with a strong attention to detail and someone who has a strong desire to own their role. You will actively participate in the accounting cycle and support the strategic plan set forth by the Executive team. In addition, the Corporate Controller is responsible for:

  • Month-end closing process & inventory control management.
  • Preparation, dissemination, and analysis of multiple sets of divisional financial statements.
  • Budget preparation; periodic forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Analysis of raw materials & labour costs to ensure the actuals are in line with budget.
  • Preparation of year-end audit binder for external audit.
  • Contributing to the strategic direction, plans, and objectives by identifying accounting/planning issues and opportunities and evaluating organizational impact.
  • Providing authoritative advice to management on the development and interpretation of regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines concerning accounting issues affecting the organization.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be a designated CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) in good standing and have 5+ years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Previous experience working at a Public Accounting Firm. Big four experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience working for a multi-company or division environment preferably in a project-based environment in either construction or manufacturing.
  • The motivation to participate in the day-to-day with your team and the ability to review operational & financial results at a high level.

You have a solid background in financial processes and applications and take initiative with leadership and mentorship. You are a driven individual with a high level of analytical thinking, good judgment while being results-focused. You possess strong communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization as well as presentations.
