Your role:
We are seeking a highly motivated HR Specialist to join our dynamic team and focus on immigration, compensation, and benefits for our North American operations. In this role, you will handle work permit and visa applications, manage compensation processes, support benefits administration, and act as a key point of contact for employee inquiries and escalations.

Your responsibilities:
You will be the main point of contact for our employees relating to immigration, compensation, and benefits and work alongside the HR Coordinators and HR Generalists. You will lead and support tasks and initiatives in these HR functions and keep the team up to speed on current events in efforts to maintain a good level of support with stakeholders.
- Prepare and review work permit and visa applications for our North American operations
- Act as the main point of contact for employee immigration inquiries and concerns
- Provide regular knowledge share with the greater HR team on relevant updates surrounding immigration
- Liaise with our preferred external immigration consultants as needed in North America
- Attend virtual webinars and local conferences to keep up with the latest legislation and best practices
- Conduct research and assist the Manager, HR in drafting proposals relating to immigration
- Liaise with the Recruitment Lead regularly to maintain a pulse on immigration demands in the market
- Assist with ad hoc special projects as required
- Participate as a key HR team member in the Company Annual Compensation Review (ACR)
- Assist with the administration of the Company Bonus program
- Compile data for salary surveys and drafting responses
- Conduct compensation analysis using internal and market data
- Conduct salary benchmarking with the VP, HR and HR Leadership team
- Ensure the Company meets compliance requirements for Pay Transparency legislation
- Support the implementation of new and existing total rewards programs including data collection, data analysis, developing tools and resources
- Provide reporting and analysis of key metrics for the business as required
- Assist with ad hoc special projects as required
- Oversee benefits administration (enrollments and changes) for our North America operations
- Handle escalations and investigate employee concerns as required
- Perform monthly invoice reviews and reconciliations prior to payment
- Assist the Manager, Human Resources on all benefit provider annual renewals and reviews
- Conduct market research and benchmarking for our benefits program
- Keep up to date with benefit trends and propose recommendations as applicable
- Act as a primary contact for employee inquiries surrounding all facets of the group benefits program (EAP, extended health, dental, insurances, retirement savings plans, etc.)
- Liaise with our external benefit brokerage firms on our benefit offerings
- Assist with ad hoc special projects as required
About you:
- 5+ years of experience in HR, with a focus in total rewards and immigration
- Previous experience with Provincial Nominee Programs and Global Talent Stream is an asset
- Previous work experience in the high tech or software technology industry is an asset
- Completion of post-secondary program in Human Resources or Business Administration
- Good knowledge of HR standards and best practices
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Keen attention to detail with strong writing and editing skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent business acumen
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment handling multiple deadlines
- Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and within a team
Compensation:
Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia's pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background.
The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is only one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect our company pay philosophy, culture and values. We aim to foster an inspiring work environment and support employees' work-life rhythms. We provide a comprehensive extended health benefits program, including virtual healthcare and a wellness allowance. Employees also receive annual allotted vacation days, which increase based on tenure. British Columbia - Base Salary Range:$70,000—$80,000 CADWhat you can expect:
