ONE KIDS PLACE – Children's Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff will provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.

POSITION: (2) Therapy Assistant (Full-Time - Internship Contract)

LOCATION: North Bay

EFFECTIVE: September 2024 - August 2025

POSITION SUMMARY: The Therapy Assistant will work with the Rehabilitation Therapists and Teacher to deliver an integrated service plan to children transitioning to school. The Therapy Assistant will work daily in the classroom planning and implementing programming for children in the pre-academic environment. Assist children in toileting, dressing, following routines, socializing with others, developing the skills necessary to transition successfully to school, and ensuring documentation is consistent with agency standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The position will be a first full-time employment in the candidate's field of study. The candidate must be a graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program.
• A University or college graduate who has graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university.
• Related experience assisting children with multiple, complex needs
• Individual will be responsible for carrying out group and individual activities with children in an effort to teach and develop the skills necessary to transition successfully to school
• Individual will be working directly with a Rehabilitation Therapists and Teacher in the Transitions to School Program
• Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the District of Nipissing
• Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment under the supervision of assigned therapists
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills/Excellent oral and written communication skills to collect data and evaluate the children's progress towards goal attainment
• Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable vehicle
• Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation, programming and communication.
• Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
• Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector
  

COMPENSATION: $23.48 hourly

SOMMAIRE DU POSTE : L'assistant(e) en thérapie travaille sous la supervision de thérapeutes afin d'offrir des services de réadaptation coordonnés dans un contexte pluridisciplinaire et axé sur la famille. L'assistante(e) fait la mise en œuvre de programmes thérapeutiques, offre de la formation aux enfants, aux jeunes et à leurs parents, et s'assure que la documentation est conforme aux normes de l'organisme.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Diplôme collégiale ou diplôme universitaire au cours des trois dernières années. Le poste sera un premier emploi dans le domaine du candidat(e)
• Expérience de travail pertinente au cours des deux dernières années dans un contexte pédiatrique ou de soins de santé
• Le ou la titulaire sera responsable de la gestion d'activités dans un milieu scolaire avec des enfants ayant des besoins multiples et complexes
• Le ou la titulaire effectuera des activités de groupe auprès d'enfants et parfois de parents dans le but d'enseigner des jeux et des compétences favorisant la motricité globale aux enfants et à leurs aidants
• Connaissance pratique des ressources et des soutiens communautaires dans les districts de Muskoka, Nipissing et Parry Sound
• Capacité de travailler au sein d'une équipe pluridisciplinaire sous la supervision de thérapeutes
• La capacité de gérer son temps et de travailler de façon autonome est un élément important de ce poste
• Excellentes compétences de relations interpersonnelles, d'organisation et de communication verbale et écrite
• Permis de conduire de l'Ontario en vigueur et véhicule fiable
• Compétences en informatique (traitement de texte et Internet)
• Bilingue en anglais et en français est un atout
• Preuve de vaccination contre la COVID-19, telle qu'exigée dans le secteur
