HSE Lead
The HSE Lead role is a site based position that is responsible for the following primary areas: HSE reporting, review and audit of site documentation, liaison between project sites and office for all health & safety related scopes, weekly site inspections, HSE training, and site specific orientations.
The HSE Lead is a collaborative team player, focused on the strategic objectives of the company through coordination of field and office activities, administration of the Safety Program and procurement support.
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly corporate safety meetings and OHS Committee meetings;
- Preparation of HSE reference material for site personnel (Safety Meetings, Toolbox Talks, etc.);
- Audit completed safety documentation on BIS Safety / SafeTapp;
- Verify personnel training and set up training as needed;
- Maintain and update the company training matrix;
- Conduct weekly site inspections on all active sites;
- Follow up on incident reporting and lead the incident investigation process;
- Management of subcontractor prequalification and ensure documentation of all subcontractor requirements related to health & safety (approved prequalification, subcontractor agreement insurance documentation and WCB clearance);
- Complete safety orientations for new hires and new projects and ensuring that all safety documentation is filed for each project and accessible (i.e., safety certifications, required safety training complete, operator competencies complete, emergency contact information);
- Prepare all HSE statistics and reports on a weekly and monthly basis for performance reviews and to maintain the company's HSE statistics;
- Update all online safety sites and corporate statistics for bidding on a quarterly basis;
- Assist in the preparation of project HSE plans and documentation required prior to kick-off;
- Ensure all physical safety documentation is current and distributed to sites at project start (HSE plans, OH&S books, policies);
- Participate in the annual review of the corporate HSE program;
- Act a resource for all field personnel;
- Perform other related HSE duties as required.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of HSE experience
- Field safety experience for construction
- Great mentorship ability to lead by example
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong understanding about how to develop positive safety culture
- Must have a valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle to get to sites in and around Saskatoon
