Project Coordinator – Basic Income Guarantee

Huronia Transition Homes is non-profit organization working to end all violence against all women. We operate 5 primary programs, including La Maison Rosewood Shelter, a woman-centered organization that provides support to women who are fleeing violence, or are experiencing homelessness. We are committed to providing our services within an intersectional feminist and harm reduction integrated environment.

Huronia Transition Homes is currently hiring a Project Coordinator for a full-time three-year contract position. The successful candidate for this position will report to the Development Manager and will work primarily out of our Midland office. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and development of a Basic Income Guarantee (BIG) framework and network. Work activities will include research coordination, knowledge translation, and the mobilization of municipalities, academic institutions, social services, regional committees, local health units and women who have survived gender-based violence to work collectively to advance the BIG framework.

Key responsibilities include:

Network Mobilization:

  • Coordinate all components of the North Simcoe BIG network, inclusive of meetings, membership, meeting minutes, scheduling and workplans.
  • Liaise with approved community organizations and stakeholders to promote the BIG network
  • Design and deliver approved workshops and information sessions
  • Participate on approved committees / coalitions to take advantage of opportunities for information sharing

Research Coordination:

  • Complete literature review on locally driven BIG projects
  • Design and coordinate focus groups for women who have survived violence who are living in poverty, inclusive of an interview guide.
  • Design and implement a survey for stakeholders and community members
  • Consolidate data collected into a report with key findings
  • Develop and implement a mechanism for women living in poverty who have survived violence to provide ongoing feedback
  • Liaise with academic institution partners
  • Liaise and coordinate evaluation process with third party evaluators
  • Integrate a trauma-informed approach to research design and data collection

Knowledge Translation:

  • Develop and deliver approved public education tools and resources
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets, as directed by the Development Manager
  • Work with the Development Manager to develop public awareness tools to share information on the BIG program
  • Promote and design approved public awareness campaigns related to BIG and violence against women
  • Build networks for data collection and information distribution
  • Organize and coordinate events to enhance community awareness of the project.

Program Administration

  • Prepare reports and strategies in relation to the BIG project, inclusive of knowledge translation strategy, BIG framework and literature review.
  • Support in the preparation and distribution of a request for proposal for the third-party evaluator.
  • Work towards achieving service delivery objectives in accordance with policies, procedures, budget and service targets.
  • Follow and maintain an up-to-date workplan through the duration of the project
  • Participate in program planning and evaluation as required
  • Record statistics as per agency policies and procedures, accurately track activities and event participation and generate reports as requested
  • Maintain list of supplies and resources needed for promotional events, order and restock supplies as needed
  • Perform problem-solving and decision-making in accordance with policies and procedures, consulting with Development Manager as required
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and take minutes

Team & Agency Participation

  • Work collaboratively as a member of the team and as a member of the organization
  • Abide by all policies, procedures, rules and regulations of Huronia Transition Homes
  • Promote a healthy and respectful workplace
  • Participate in applicable training, supervision and team meetings
  • Practice open, direct, respectful communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Relevant post-secondary degree in Women's Studies, Sociology, Communications, or a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Solid and demonstrated commitment to antiracism/anti-oppression, harm reduction and intersectional feminism, and the ability to articulate each competently.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the issues and complexities of the impact of violence against women particularly intimate partner violence, and/or sexual abuse, with a strong feminist analysis.
  • Experience in group and/or workshop facilitation, knowledge of group dynamics and group processes
  • Experience in event coordination
  • Experience conducting research, and preparing academic reports
  • Excellent communication, presentation, design and writing skills.
  • An ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for word processing, databases, spreadsheets, email and internet
  • Solid problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in web design and interactive/social media development
  • Ability to build, foster and maintain relationships with organizational supporters
  • Demonstrated skill in meeting individual and organizational targets
  • Ability to produce work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment, within tight timelines
  • Ability to condense large amounts of information into promotional materials
  • Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both French and English preferred
