The Procurement Team Lead is responsible for working closely with a team of Buyers to ensure the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials required for manufacturing operations. This role involves leading procurement activities, maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The Team Lead will play a crucial role in driving procurement strategies that align with the organization's goals, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality products at the best possible prices.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide guidance and support to the procurement team to ensure high performance and professional development.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's manufacturing and operational goals.
  • Ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for production.
  • Create reports and presentations that reflect market trends, supplier pricing, and industry conditions to optimize procurement activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective supply chains.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve the best possible outcomes for the company.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and performance assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards and contractual obligations.
  • Adhere to financial targets and cost-saving objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and value optimization in procurement activities.
  • Track and report on procurement expenses, providing regular updates to management.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions, quality issues, or non-compliance with contracts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records and documentation, ensuring transparency and audit readiness.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels. Category management as required, including multiple categories PTO coverage.
  • Implement best practices in procurement and supply chain management, leveraging technology and data analytics.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving overall supply chain performance.
  • Identify, gather and analyze various spend data in Microsoft Excel.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal departments to ensure alignment of procurement activities with overall business objectives.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to management on procurement performance, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Support procurement initiatives from start to close (Strategic Sourcing, RFPs, Vendor performance evaluations)
  • Be the purchasing representative for sustainability initiatives which include ESG reporting, Recycled content of our raw materials and more.
  • Work closely with inventory and production teams to manage stock levels, ensuring the availability of materials while minimizing excess inventory. Participate in the monthly inventory count and posting process ensuring accuracy and timeliness of completion.
  • Monitor and manage inventory turnover rates, identifying slow-moving or obsolete items for disposal or reallocation.
  • Draft Master purchasing agreements.
  • Create presentations related to procurement and strategic sourcing initiatives in PowerPoint and present to management.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional certification such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving cost-saving initiatives.
  • Previous experience being involved in strategic sourcing and RFP processes, including evaluating supplier proposals and negotiating/drafting contracts.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and contract negotiation.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • High Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel - VLOOKUP and pivot tables), Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Results-oriented and proactive, with a strong focus on achieving procurement goals and objectives.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards in dealing with suppliers and managing procurement activities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Problem solver with the ability to think analytically and outside the box.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and prioritize.
  • People oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and vendors.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
