Key Areas of Responsibility:
In coordination with other crew members, the primary task of the Project Technician/Construction Surveyor will include the following during rehab, construction within an existing Transfer Station, and conveyor installation in the Conveyor Ramp:
- Construction layouts for anchor bolt locations, grid lines, formwork, concrete piers, and footings in an underground environment
- Surveying and checking for column plumbness with a total station during structural steel erection in an underground environment
- Layout hanger locations
- Layout and assist with alignment of overhead crane rails during installation
- Mark up headings for rehab portion of scope
- Perform routine check surveys to ensure precision and accuracy are maintained in mine survey data, control points, and survey stations are properly tied in
- Establish new survey stations as required
- Assist with creating red line mark ups during construction
- Conduct routine survey reporting for underground construction and rehab
- Prepare and implement processes and procedures
- Assist QA/QC personnel when required
- Assist in generating daily and weekly reports when required
- Specify and order materials and supplies required for surveying
- Other such duties as may be assigned
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure full understanding and compliance with company policies and work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other local regulatory requirements
- Have the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Fully supports and actively participates in the team safety program based on culture and innovation
- Ensure that any equipment deemed damaged or unsafe by virtue of a defect, or a machine of which any protection system is inoperative, is not used and communicated to the supervisor
- Work closely with other crew members to create and maintain a synergy required to accomplish the shift line-up in the cycle
- Ensure applicable procedures and work standards for all tasks are understood, adhered to and complied at all times for all such work
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace
- Utilize all safety systems as specified within the site safety management system
Pre-Employment Qualifications:
- Pre-employment drug, alcohol and medical testing
- Criminal Record Check
- Mining Technician Diploma and experience with technical aspects of underground construction, mine surveying
- Full Basic Underground Common Core
- Minimum 3 years related underground mine surveying experience
- Proficient with mine engineering programs such Mine Cad Software, AutoCAD, Total Station, and MOSS
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- WHMIS
- Fall Arrest
- Lifesaver TM-60 (self-rescuer)
- High level of personal integrity
- Knowledgeable of innovative technologies, such as Mine CAD Software, AutoCAD, Total Station and MOSS
- Demonstrate organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
- Underground construction survey experience
- Attention to detail
- Must be able to work with little supervision in a remote environment; must be self-directed
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
