What would you be doing?

An Accounting Technician/Bookkeeper engages in great interpersonal relations with clients and team members. This position has strong initiative and a positive can-do focus. A focus on learning and delivering our exceptional services of full cycle bookkeeping and small business transactions including accounts payable/receivable, financial reporting and payroll administration.

  • Providing bookkeeping assistance to clients, internally and externally, in various formats including Quickbooks, QBO, Sage/Simply Accounting, and CaseWare
  • Processing bi-weekly/ semi-monthly payroll for clients
  • Produce accurate income statements
  • Complete and submit ROEs
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Set up chart of accounts and set up new companies in accounting systems
  • Preparation and filing of CRA remittances
  • Preparing monthly journal entries and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts as well financial and operating statements
  • Preparation and filing of HST returns
  • Providing assistance with ad-hoc reports as required
  • Preparation of client reports as required
  • Preparation of T4's as required
  • Maintaining regular contact with clients and taxation authorities (CRA) to complete all routine formalities from an accounting perspective

Who is our ideal candidate?

  • Graduation from a postsecondary institution – accounting or bookkeeping diploma
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in public practice or for multiple clients
  • 2+ years experience with and/or knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Sage Accounting, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with CaseWare an asset.
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Ability to change priorities quickly and easily, meet recurring deadlines and take ownership of assigned client work
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently as well as part of a team
  • Adept at problem solving and troubleshooting as not everything is as it seems
  • Strong client and interpersonal skills - our clients mean the world to us
  • Approachable, supportive team player with a strong sense of urgency and a demonstrated history of achieving common goals
  • Experience working in a professional and confidential capacity
